Helmsley Walled Garden at Advent Bazaar in Helmsley Town Hall
We will be selling our garden-pressed Apple Juice, hand-made Christmas wreaths and other gifts at The Advent Bazaar and Pop-Up Café in Helmsley Town Hall on Tuesday 14th November from 10am till 4pm.
The Bazaar is being organised by The Hut, a members-led charity bringing creativity and purpose to the lives of adults with enduring mental health conditions. Hand-picked exhibitors will be selling a range of Christmas gifts and visitors can enjoy a slice of home-made cake along with a cup of tea, coffee, hot chocolate or a glass of our apple juice in the café.
Entry to the Bazaar is free and money raised will go to support their work.
Fruits of Autumn and Pumpkin displays in the Orchid House
Two colourful displays of decorative fruit, vegetables, flowers, pumpkins and vintage tools celebrating harvest-time and autumn will go on display in the Orchid House at Helmsley Walled Garden in September and October.
The Fruits of Autumn display showcases the decorative fruit and vegetables and beautiful autumn blooms grown in the garden alongside homemade jams and chutneys, Helmsley Walled Garden honey and beehives as well as a selection of vintage gardening tools.
Throughout October to get you inspired for Halloween the colourful pumpkin and squash display will showcase the variety we’ve grown in the Garden this year. There are yellow, green, red and orange pumpkins, round ones, sausage-shaped and pear-shaped ones; ones with warts and one called Sugar Pie. We have those to fit in the palm of your hand and one that’s around 60cm in diameter!
So come and see what the Garden has to offer in October.
Normal admission charges apply.
Come and meet Kay Crewsdon, presenter of BBC Radio York’s Breakfast Show for this month’s Kay’s Cakes at The Vine House Café.
Kay is working her way round North Yorkshire aiming to bring people together to have a chat over tea and cake and maybe make a new friend or two. Kay’s Cakes started because Kay realised that loneliness and social isolation particularly among older people in rural areas was an issue in the region. So she is looking forward to seeing plenty of people here next Wednesday.
All the tea and cake is being generously provided by The Vine House Café alongside the WI and Rhian Crusher from Celebrate Country Cake Design.
Sue from Helmsley Traditional Sweet Shop will be bringing along some traditional sweeties to get people’s memories working on what were their favourites and children from Helmsley Primary School will be there to hand out the cake. So come and join us from 2pm for tea, cake and a natter.
