Donating to us
At Helmsley Walled Garden we use gardening to help our supported volunteers develop at vulnerable stages in their lives. They may have physical disabilities, learning difficulties, mental health problems, feel socially isolated or be long-term unemployed. They learn basic horticultural skills mainly through group work, building confidence and providing social interaction. Where appropriate, we aim to provide the work experience, skills and practical qualifications that can lead to permanent employment. We make a real difference to the lives of our supported volunteers and we want to be able to do more.
Your help is vital in helping us to carry on this work and we value any support you can give immensely. Your donations can help us do the following:
£10 buys seed for the vegetable plot of one supported volunteer
£25 enables a horticultural therapist to provide half a day’s advocacy support to help a vulnerable person deal with official forms or appointments
£35 enables one person to attend a day’s supported learning with our horticultural therapists
£50 would buy a set of wet weather clothes and steel toe-capped wellingtons for a disadvantaged young person
£100 would provide a full set of tools for a supported volunteer
