2019 Events Calendar

Saturday and Sunday 6th and 7th April – Birds, beasts and bugs

This is our first wildlife weekend here at Helmsley Walled Garden.  Organisations such as RSPB, Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and Bumble Bee Conservation Trust will be around the garden with information and activities for all.

We want to celebrate just how much wildlife is in our garden and get everyone thinking about and looking for what’s in their gardens. So this is a great opportunity to find out more and get involved.

Special garden rate  – £5.00 entry per adult, children under 16 go free, free to Friends and to Residents of Helmsley, Gift Aid passes not valid for event days

Sunday 21st April – Easter Egg Trail

Come to Helmsley Walled Garden this Easter Sunday and follow our Easter Egg trail to find the Egg at the End. Fun for kids from 4 upwards.

Saturday 15th June – Summer Fete

What can be better in a garden than a traditional summer fete with craft stalls and a range of activities for all the family.  Try your hand at the Flowerpot challenge, or the ladder game or maybe a game of croquet. And all in the beautiful setting of Helmsley Walled Garden.

Wednesday 31st July – Friends of Helmsley Walled Garden evening

A ticketed event for Friends Of Helmsley Walled Garden, a special evening for friends to learn about what is happening in the Garden and plans for the year ahead. It’s a great way for people to support the Garden and be a part of making things happen.

Saturday 17th August – Charity Awareness Day

Helmsley Walled Garden is proud to be just one of a vital group of small independent charities in the district of Ryedale.  We are inviting our visitors from near and far to enjoy a day in the Garden to find out more about these charities that support us all in this small rural community.

Ryedale Charities Together, Helmsley Arts Centre and North Yorkshire Music Therapy Centre will be just some of the groups coming together to show what hey do. There will be music and drama and fun for everyone.

There will be activities for all ages and a produce stall where you can meet and chat to our volunteers.  Entry for the day is our normal fee of £7.50 – £1.50 of every ticket sold will be divided amongst our visiting charities.

Saturday 21st September – St Leonard’s Hospice Day

We are joining with St Leonard’s to help raise funds and awareness for this most special organisation as part of their week-long Ryedale Arts Festival. There will be drop–in sketching workshops throughout the day and all admissions money for the day will be split between the Garden and St Leonard’s.

Normal admission charges apply.

Saturday 19th October – Apple Day

Join us for our annual celebration of all things apple. There will be pruning demonstrations, apple tastings, an apple-facts trail, quizzes and activities for all the family.  This is your annual chance to find out more about the nation’s favourite fruit and find out more of what we do with our amazing apples here at Helmsley Walled Garden.
