Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st June – Iris and Peony
A celebration of two of our newly planted areas. The Iris Border along the east wall and the Peonies incorporated within the new plantings of the Long Border are the focus of the weekend.
The new peony plantings were the favourite flower of Alison Ticehurst who began the restoration of the Garden and its ethos of therapeutic horticulture. The planting is a tribute to her memory and her vision.
Normal admission charges apply
Saturday 18th July – The Ancient and Honourable Guild of Town Criers Championships 2020
Helmsley Walled Garden is delighted to be the host venue for The Ancient & Honourable Guild Of Town Criers 2020 Championships, an honour for the town too, as this is the first time in 30 years the Championships have been held in the north of England.
There will be over 25 criers from overseas along England, Wales and overseas, accompanied by their consorts all in traditional regalia. They’ll be making proclamations about their own towns along with a themed cry in front of judges and our visitors to the Garden.
Come and enjoy this very English tradition, now carried out throughout the world.
Admission free for the day
